Privacy Policy
Effective October 25, 2026
Crunchy is an app that helps you look after your pet: check whether food is safe for it, keep track of medications, vet visits and documents, and read tips about pet care. This policy explains what data the app collects, why, who helps us process it, and the choices you have.
In short: we collect only what the app needs to work, we don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and you can delete your account and all your data from the app at any time.
1. Who we are
Crunchy is developed and operated by Anatoliy Konovalov, an individual developer based in Serbia ("we", "us"). We are the controller of your personal data.

2. Data we collect
Account
- Your email address and name, and a password if you sign up with email (the password is stored only as a secure hash by our authentication provider).
- If you sign in with Google or Apple: the name, email address and, for Google, profile photo that you allow them to share. Sign in with Apple may give us a private relay email instead of your real one.
- An account photo, if you add one.
Your pets and their care
- Pet profiles: name, species, breed, sex, date of birth, weight, whether the pet is neutered, allergies, health conditions, notes and a photo.
- Medications and doses you mark as given, vet appointments (clinic, doctor, reason, notes, dates) and documents you upload (photos or PDFs, with their titles and notes).
- Your history of food checks: the food's name, the verdict, the explanation and a small preview of the photo.
Food checks
When you check food, the app sends the photo and the profile of the selected pet (species, and if you picked a pet: name, breed, age, weight, sex, allergies and health conditions) to our server, which asks an AI model to analyze it. For each check we keep a technical record without the photo: the date, the AI model, the amount of processing used, its cost and the verdict. These records are deleted automatically after 90 days. We also count your checks to apply the free limit.
Location
If you allow it, the map uses your location to find vet clinics, pet stores and dog parks near you. Your location is used on your device and in Apple Maps searches; we don't store it on our servers. Places you save as favorites stay on your device.
Camera and photos
The app uses the camera and your photo library only when you choose to take or pick a photo: of food, your pet, your account or a vet document. We receive only the photos you choose.
Subscriptions
Payments are handled by Apple. We never see your payment card details. We receive information about your subscription (which plan, when it started, renews or ends) to unlock premium features.
Usage and diagnostics
- App usage statistics: for example, that the app was opened, which screens were used, the app version, device model, operating system and approximate country or region. This tells us which features are used and where the app needs work. It is linked to a random app installation ID, not to your name or email, and it does not use the advertising identifier.
- Crash reports: technical details about a crash (device, app state, stack trace) together with our internal user ID, so that we can fix bugs.
Data that stays on your device
Reminder notifications are scheduled on your device and may include your pet's and medications' names. App settings, favorite places and which stories and banners you've already seen are also kept only on your device.

We don't use your data for advertising, we don't sell it, and we don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We don't make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects based solely on automated processing; the AI only produces information about food for your pet.
4. Who processes your data for us
We use trusted service providers who process data on our behalf, under contracts that require them to protect it:

Anthropic processes food checks only to return the analysis. Under its commercial terms it does not use this data to train its models, and it keeps it only for a limited period for safety and abuse monitoring, as described in Anthropic's privacy policy.
We may also disclose data if the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of our users or others, or as part of a transfer of the app to a new owner, who would be bound by this policy.
5. Where your data is stored
Your data is stored on Google Cloud servers in the United States. Our providers may process data in other countries too. When data from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland is transferred to countries that don't have an adequacy decision, we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (and their UK equivalent) included in our providers' data processing terms.
6. How long we keep it
- Your account and everything in it: until you delete your account. Deleting a pet or a record removes it right away.
- Food check records: 90 days.
- Crash reports and usage statistics: kept by Firebase for a limited period, up to 14 months.
- Emails to us: as long as needed to handle your request, and up to two years afterwards.
When you delete your account in the app (Settings → Account → Delete account), we delete your account, your pets, records, documents and photos from our servers. Copies may remain in our providers' backups and logs for a short time until they are overwritten.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have the right to:
- access your data and get a copy of it;
- correct it — most of it you can edit in the app yourself;
- delete it — you can delete your account in the app;
- receive it in a portable format;
- object to or restrict processing based on our legitimate interests;
- withdraw your consent at any time, for example by turning off location or camera access in iOS Settings;
- complain to your data protection authority.
To use these rights, email privacy@crunchypets.app from the email address of your account. We'll answer within 30 days and may ask you to confirm your identity.
California residents. You have the right to know what personal information we collect, use and disclose, to delete it, to correct it, and not to be discriminated against for using these rights. We don't sell or share your personal information and don't use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you.
8. Children
Crunchy is meant for people aged 16 and over. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you believe a child has given us their data, contact us and we'll delete it.
9. Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by our providers. Access rules on our servers let each account read and change only its own data, and the AI service key is kept only on our server. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and will notify you and the authorities of a breach where the law requires it.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If the changes are significant, we'll tell you in the app before they take effect.
